THE HISTORY BEHIND SPRINGFIELD RIFLES.
  • The original Springfield Armory was located in Springfield Massachusetts from 1777-1968. Many of the firearms produced in this time frame were military style M1A and M14 rifles. Due to cost cutting during the Vietnam war, the Department Of Defense closed Springfield Armory. In 1974, the Springfield Armory name was licensed to Robert Reese, to form Springfield Armory, Inc. Springfield Armory Inc has no ties with the original Springfield Armory, but they do produce rifles that replicate the original firearms as well as modernized AR-15 style assault rifles.

WHO USES SPRINGFIELD RIFLES?
  • Springfield is currently manufacturing the M1A and the Saint. The M1A is very similar to the M1 Grand in design and function, which is a great setup for hunters and target shooters. The M1A is available in a loaded version with a tactical style stock, a standard version with a basic synthetic stock, or the national match version with a wood stock. The next rifle is called the Springfield Saint, which is based on the original AR-15 design with refinements like an upper and lower receiver constructed from 7075 T6 aluminum, a six position light-weight polymer stock, and a 2 piece handguard with key mod inserts.
